Is Sports Massage suitable for me?

You don’t have to be an elite athlete to benefit from sports massage! Weekend joggers, ardent gym-goers and one-night-a-week footballers can all benefit from sports massage. Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether a person is an athlete or a once a week jogger.

Whilst most people taking part in sport /exercise would benefit from having a sports massage, there are a few for whom it is not suitable. A consultation prior to your massage will ensure it is suitable, safe and appropriate for YOU specifically. It is always advisable to see your GP first in order to rule out medical issues.

Recent Sports Injuries

If you have suffered from a sports injury in the last 2 days please follow the RICE protocol for 48 hours. You may need to see a physiotherapist, for a full assessment of your injury, as well as getting advice about rehabilitation. Madeleine has good professional relationships with several physiotherapists and can refer you to them for further assessment and treatment. (If you think your injury is serious please seek medical attention immediately). For  grade 1  (more mild injuries), sports massage can begin once the injury is beginning to heal and any bruising has subsided.
